might be i could share some personal exp for yr reference.
normally i prefer to string main tension for + 2 /+3 lbs for hybrid setup(main = poly, cross= multi, syn gut)
like 52/50 or 51/49 on wilson n90/n95, finding pretty good stringbed feel,
but also tried stringing cross tension for +2/lbs , producing frimmer rktstringbed response.
like 53/55 on tour 90.
hope could help.
i think other chings could produce more resonable and helpful advice to u. like swtrexe ching, who seems to be very informative and helpful guy. :>
When you select the tension, you also need to consider the string gauge, according to your selection, you have select a 18 (1.20mm) and the grommet hole of your racquet is large, so you may need to add 1+2 lbs on that string.
Also you need to consider the following :
- when to string your racquet, if you string in summer, you can use high tension, but for winter, you may need to minus 1-2 lbs....
- the string pattern and head size of your racquet, you are using a open pattern (16/19) in 100 sq in, you can using higher tension to keep a solid feel.
I have used hybird strings for few years and tried many combinations, I can give some suggestion for you :
For 100 sq in. (I'm using Babolat Pure Drive Roddick GT Plus) :
Main - ISOSPEED Professional 17 String@ 62lbs, Cross - Toalson Rencon 120 String@62lbs
F06 95 sq in. (I'm using Dunlop Biomimetic 200 Lite)
Main - Toalson Rencon 120 String@60lbs, Cross - ISOSPEED Professional 17 String@ 58lbs
Both can provide enough power and great ball feel, hope it can help you....
Thanks ohnavi & ivancy for your sharing. Sure there has much science and experience along the way from trials.
My order of Big Ace 1.22mm, Big Ace Revo 1.20mm, Maxim Touch 1.25mm & 1.30mm, and should be received this week. Have 2 poly and 2 multi to try 4 times. According to seller, Big Ace original is stiffer than Revo, and the tension difference can be more.
My current string, Prince w/ Softflex 1.30mm full set, was strung at 58/56 at end Feb. I bought APDGT together with a ching, as he strung RPM Blast at 59/57, so I reduces tension a bit. Start to see notches and wears so I guess its life will not be far.
I wonder if I handle well and give enough power at 62lbs. Sound a very high tension value to me. But take account factors you mention, e.g. summer (will string in June), and 16x19@100sqin, perhaps 60/58 may be a good try.
SW CHING, WHAT IS YR REASON TO CHOOSE HYBRID STRING SETUP ??
FOR ME, I JUST WANT A MORE COMFORTABLE STRINGBED FEELING, BUT STILL RETAIN A BIT FIRMER STRINGBED , i THINK (MULTI/SYN GUT COULD PROVIDE FIRMER STRINGBED ONLY IN HIGH TENSION , (EG, 58LBS ABOVE )
