I have a babolar Pure drive GT + , and is looking to restring it and need recommendations on string.
currently string with the Babolar xcel
In particular looking for:
1. More top spin (中腰波打approaching shot 现在常打中網带或出底线）
2. Better control and precision
3. If possible, string will not need to change very often (at least last 三四个月 if play once weekly）
Personally, no tennis elbow/shoulder issues, play eastern/semi-western grip and double backhand, and no need the string to add power as I can add power from my swing.
Xcel is arm friendly but bite is so so. What tension are u using now? Did you ever try Pro Hurricane Tour + Addiction (or xcel) hybrid? No matter how if you want more top spin then u must hit with semi or full western grip, add some wrap window follow through instead of fully extend follow through. Or you can try Gosen PoweMaster ii which at low tension which can also give you more bite.
Since Xcel is a multi-filament string, with good pwr & control when it's NEW ONLY ! Can't last that long, & 58 lb is already a high tension on that rkt for leisure player !
String got soft & elastisity lost, u'll hit all the ball to the white tape if u don't hit hard. If u hit hard, easy to make it over ; time to change the string !Multi lik Xcel can maintain it's performance max for about 10 hr If u want to stick to multi, try Wilson NXT Tour 16/17 (expensive, of course ). B's, multi's friendly to the arms, if u still have arm problems, Change the rkt & Look for a good coach.
All string will lost tension, but the loosing time will depend on the following factors:
- Temperature changes
- Characteristics of each string design
- playing style (e.g. big hitter)
Most of the multifilament Strings can keep 10-20 hrs. I suggest you restring the racquet.
If you want to have excellent ball feel, you can try Gamma Professional, it will provide "Gut-like" performance but the tension can keep around 10 hrs.... Also you can try Tecnifibre X-One Biphase, it will provide very good ball feel and keep tension longer (around 15-20 hrs)
Monofilament string can keep tension longer than multifilament string, but It may affect your elbow. Luxilon alu power is a monofilament string which choosed by many advance & professional player. This string will harder than others monofilament string since it contain aluminum fibers, so if you choose the string, you need to reduce the 10% tension when stringing.
well multifilament can't last for more than a month, a multifilament for me last around 4 hours before it breaks, use a hybrid if u need to soften a poly. Solinco Barbwire will be a great option if you're looking for a softer poly. it have insane bite too.
very funny. it's so obvious that the poster actually needs better skill, and not a string/tension change.
But as a gear freak, i'd like to offer you a service, cut the extended length off yr racket butt.
